Bolshoi Ballet’s “Coppelia” will be shown at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at Strand Theatre, 345 Main St. in Rockland. The high definition broadcast will feature Moscow’s ballet company.
Swanhilda notices that her fianceé Franz is infatuated with the beautiful Coppélia, who sits reading on her balcony each day. Though she nearly breaks up the two sweethearts, Coppélia is not what she seems and Swanhilda decides to teach Franz a lesson … The Bolshoi’s unique version of Coppélia is a fascinating reconstruction of the original 19th century comedy involving a feisty heroine, a boyish fianceé with a wandering eye, and an old dollmaker.
Tickets cost $15 for adults, $10 for students 18 and younger and college students with ID.
