Every year, elderly Americans cumulatively lose around $37 billion to fraud. According to Bloomberg, “Telephone pitchers, online scammers and even family members target the most vulnerable among us.” This is reprehensible. There is no reason that these criminals should be profiting on the backs of our nations seniors.
Rep. Bruce Poliquin, R-2nd District, knows that we need to do whatever we can to protect seniors from fraud and abuse, which is why he sponsored the bipartisan H.R. 3758, the Senior Safe Act. Recently the Senior Safe Act was added to S.2155, which was signed into law by President Donald Trump.
Poliquin’s Senior Safe Act will identify these criminals, report them to the authorities and stop the financial abuse of our elderly.
There is absolutely no excuse for elder abuse. Thank you, Congressman Poliquin, for standing up for those who can’t stand up for themselves.
