MANCHESTER — Katherine Cassidy will present a range of topics related to social change in Sierra Leone at 6 p.m. Monday, June 11, at the Manchester Grange, 953 Western Ave.

Cassidy has spent the last year organizing an orphanage for 30 girls. Cassidy said, “We support these girls and their determination to finish their secondary school education. We provide them with a safe, protected place where dreams are realized, and joy is experienced every day,” according to a news release from the Grange.

Previously she had done shorter assignments in Kenya and Uganda teaching leadership skills to farmers as part of a project for Catholic Relief Services. Before that she had served in the Maine Legislature representing Machias, Eastport and surrounding towns.

The talk is free and suitable for all ages. For more information call Charles McGillicuddy, program director, at 215-4092.
