I am proud to support Karen Kusiak for Maine Senate District 16. Karen has been a longtime supporter and advocate of expanding Medicaid in Maine. In addition to voting for expansion with the 2017 referendum question — like the majority of voters in our community, including myself — Karen knocked on doors to fight for increasing affordable health care coverage for Mainers across our state.

Medicaid expansion will provide low-income women with access to health care services, including family planning and reproductive health care — issues that are important to me. I was pleased to learn her advocacy for health care and for women’s reproductive rights have earned her primary campaign the endorsement and recommendation of EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics. For these reasons and more, I hope you’ll join me in voting for Karen Kusiak on June 12.
