The 25th birthday for Camp POSTCARD, a week-long program for Maine kids, operated by Brunswick-based Volunteers of America Northern New England, is this month.

Camp volunteers gathered at the Senator Inn in Augusta on May 17 to celebrate the event and honored the leaders who have made camp possible for thousands of Maine children.

The volunteer camp counselors are police officers from across Maine. They are sheriffs, troopers and municipal officers whose goal is to give children an experience that will enrich their lives and give them hope for the future.

Camp POSTCARD stands for Police Officers Striving to Create and Reinforce Dreams. The camp takes place every June at Agassiz Village Summer Camp, 71, Agassiz Camp Road in Poland.
