Mount Vernon voters approved the $17.9 million Regional School Unit 38 school budget by a vote of 299-107, according to a clerk in the Town Office.

However, municipal results, including the race for school board, were unavailable late Wednesday because of problems with the machines, the clerk said. The ballots were being hand-counted.

In the lone contested race, Catherine “Cathy” Jacobs, who was appointed to finish the final year of a three-year term, sought election to the seat, as did Jonathan Berry.
