Just as I walked out of T.J. Maxx, I saw a lady gazing up at the sky. It was a day when the sun was kissing everyone’s face. I looked over at her and shouted, “Isn’t it a beautiful day?” She turned around, and both of us, extolling the gift of today, smiled at each other.

Quickly she started telling how even before her feet touched the floor as she is getting out of bed she thanks God for her life and that another day is before her. I felt her spirit of thankfulness for all the things we all take for granted. The sky in all its splendor cascading the earth. The sun smiling on everyone and causing us to smile at each other.

Amid all the turmoil in the world, we can smile and speak inspiring and kind words to each other.

It made me think of an anonymous quote that really provoked me — “Why doesn’t God do something about all these bad things happening? That’s why he made you.”

“For we are all God’s handiwork created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” — Ephesians 2:10 NIV
