The Legislature needs to stop holding the funding for Clean Elections candidates hostage over a simple typo (“Clean elections fund running dry amid partisan wrangling,” June 26).

All the money for Clean Elections candidates has already been secured and appropriated. It’s a shame that lawmakers are using this typo as a way to withhold the money that these candidates are relying on to run their campaigns.

It is important to support Clean Elections candidates because they are beholden to their constituents, not big business or out-of-state political action committees. The Legislature needs to act promptly and fix these errors. I deeply hope that this issue is resolved and that they pass L.D. 1894.
