WINTHROP — Runners braved hot temperatures Wednesday during the 16th annual Friends on the Fourth 5K race.
Jeff Jones finished as the top overall runner, with a time of 17:09. Heather Gallant was the top female finisher (ninth overall), with a time of 18:56.
Other notable finishers were Maranacook’s Luke Bartol, who finished second overall with a time of 18:03. Maranacook graduate and Paralympic skier Ruslan Reiter finished 11th overall with a time of 19:11. Messalonskee assistant track coach Vanessa Holman was the second highest female finisher (15th overall), with a time of 19:45.
The Friends on the Fourth is an annual fundraiser for the Friends of Cobbossee Watershed District.
