The pickup truck driven by Anthony Ganem of Raymond ended up in this house Thursday evening.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded at 6 p.m. Thursday to a report of a vehicle hauling a trailer that crashed into a house in the area of North Raymond and Dyar roads in Raymond.

An investigation determined that Anthony Ganem, 53, of Raymond, was driving a pickup truck hauling a dump trailer in the area of Dyar Road when he swerved to avoid a red pickup truck driving in his lane, the office said in a news release.

Ganem said he believed the driver was using a mobile device while driving, it said. He was unable to regain control of his truck because of trailer sway, and his truck veered off the road, striking the porch of a nearby residence.

Ganem sustained minor injuries from the crash, the release said. The homeowner was present at the time but sustained no injuries, it said. The alleged second vehicle involved did not stop and has not yet been identified.

The case remained under investigation as of late Thursday night. Anyone who witnessed the crash and can provide information about the alleged other vehicle is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 893-2810.
