With so much sad and distressing news reported in the papers each week, it was great to read about the Augusta police and Kennebec County Sheriff’s Department officers who made a little girl’s birthday one she’ll always remember (“Augusta area police help Sidney girl celebrate birthday after friends are no-shows,” July 9).
