Maxwell Brown, of Boca Raton, Florida, was reported missing and possibly in a medical crisis at about 7 p.m., according to a statement released by the Portland Police Department.
Residents, Game Wardens and officers from the Marine Patrol, Portland police and Fire Departments searched for him, but the search was called off about 1 a.m. Monday for poor weather and visibility.
Brown’s body was found at 7:14 a.m. in the water by two private vessel operators, who then reported the discovery to the Marine Patrol and Coast Guard.
The remains will be transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office to undergo an autopsy, police said.
Police spokesman Lt. Robert Martin said investigators do not suspect foul play, and that the teenager was visiting friends when he disappeared.
