WATERVILLE — Police were called to Water Street Monday afternoon for a report of a cat with an arrow in its back, but the animal took off before an officer could capture it.

Waterville Police Department Deputy Chief Bill Bonney said the report came in around 1 p.m. Monday.

“When the officer got on scene, there was a cat that had what looked like a short arrow in its back going up and down, as opposed to across the cat’s body,” Bonney said.

The officer was unable to corral the gray and white cat and it took off, he said.

He said police are not actively searching for the animal, but if it is reported again they would respond.
