Macpage, a 100-employee accounting and consulting firm headquartered in South Portland, will merge with a nationwide company.
The merger with Wipfli, which is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was announced Wednesday.
Macpage was founded in 1956. The firm also has an office in Augusta, and most of its clients are in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.
Wipfli, founded in 1930, has nearly 2,000 employees, 47 offices in the U.S. and two in India. It is ranked among the top 20 accounting and business consulting firms in the country.
Graham Smith, a managing principal at Macpage, said clients should see few changes as a result of the merger, after which the firm will be known as Wipfli/Macpage in New England.
Smith said the merger will likely allow Macpage to expand and will give it access to more resources and consulting capabilities.
Smith said it was a strict merger, rather than a buyout of Macpage by Wipfli. Other merger details were not disclosed.
Employees will keep the same job responsibilities in the merged company, he said.
