I try to go about my life and tell the truth. I understand it’s simpler to do that because I’m not very good about keeping lists of falsehoods told to who, when, and about what. Besides, they only come back to haunt you at the most inopportune times.

Most people in town and the state with whom I speak do the same. It’s rather unusual for me to point at someone and question their statement about almost any subject of conversation. Maybe they’re not good about keeping lists either.

There will be times (more now than before) when the talk gets into areas where we disagree, and that’s OK if we’re still towing a truthful line. And that’s expected from and largely practiced by Mainers.

I guess the president isn’t from Maine.
