The Showhegan State Fair hosted on Friday night the first of three demolition derbies to be held this year at the fair, which is celebrating its bicentennial. The demolition derby has become one of the 10-day fair’s main attractions, drawing several thousand people. The next version of this junkyard-in-the-making will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, and the final one at 7 p.m. this Friday.
