Pine Grove Programs, serving Vets and First Responders, will offer a free day of Ice Fishing for Emergency First Responders from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, on Messalonskee Lake in Oakland.
The event is for police, firefighters and EMS personnel. Assistants/guides will drill holes, set up traps, teach the process if needed, provide lunch, and provide camaraderie.
Those who plan to attend are encouraged to wear warm clothes, warm and waterproof boots, and bring a folding chair and fishing license.
Pine Grove Programs is a nonprofit organization that provides free outdoor experiences to military service members, veterans, Goldstar families, and responders of man-made and natural disasters such as the attacks on 9/11 and others. It offers group events as well as private trips, to utilize the naturally therapeutic benefits of the wilderness.
Pine Grove Programs is based at 823 Ridge Road, Pleasant Ridge.
