The New Year launches with a creative boost is planned for the Kingfield Friday Artwalk from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4. downtown Kingfield.

Most venues will offer light refreshments and all will present the creative endeavors of a number of the area’s craftsmen and artists. Red flags will identify participating venues.

The Stadler Gallery of Contemporary Art will feature Tatiana Maxsimic and her paintings. “I began my relationship with art at the age of five when I was introduced to local artist Ulrike Stadler,” said Maxsimic, according to a news release from event organizers. “She gave me lessons for many years, providing me with access to an array of different mediums. Expressing myself through painting became extremely important to me as a way to claim all of my life’s highs and lows and to turn it into something tangible for myself and others.”

High Peaks Artisan Guild on Main Street, will be filled with fine paintings, crafts, jewelry, weaving, photography, cards, woodwork and more. Many of the guild’s members will be on hand to talk about their work and explain what they do and why.

Red Barn Upcycled Market will feature Barbara Wiencek’s creative collection of repurposed furniture, china and other must-haves.

The Ski Museum of Maine will share its new exhibit “Maine Olympians — from the Pine Tree State to the World Stage,” which has just been unveiled to the public and will be open for viewing during Artwalk. The exhibit presents the stories of Maine’s participation in each Winter Olympics from 1948 to the present.

The Webster Free Library, on Depot Street, includes books and readings, but also special exhibits.

Rolling Fatties will ring in the New Year with Sam Whitman, a Maine-born musician whose roots are in blues, rock, soul and R&B. Whitman has been playing around Maine and New England with his father and his bands since a young age. Now 23, he has established a style and keeps growing as a musician and bandleader.
