HALLOWELL — The Harlow invites artists to submit artwork to Art2019, the 24th annual juried show at 100 Water St.
The exhibit will be on view May 10 through June 15, and an opening reception is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 10, with an awards ceremony at 6 p.m. Art2019 is open to all Maine artists and to any artist with a strong connection to Maine.
Myron M. Beasley, Ph.D., a professor at Bates College, artist writer and international curator, is this year’s juror. His writing explores the intersection of cultural politics, art and social change.
Original fine art in any media can be submitted, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, digital, printmaking, fiber, photography, mixed media, ceramics, installation and more. Each artist can submit up to three works of art, which must be the artist’s own original work created within the last three years. Art that has been previously exhibited at the Harlow is not eligible. All works entered must be original work by the submitting artist. Giclees and other reproductions are not eligible.
The deadline for electronic submissions is 11:59 p.m. April 1. For complete entry rules and instructions, visit harlowgallery.org/art2019.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
