WISCASSET — The Lincoln County Historical Association will offer the first of four presentations by local artists and historians in its 2019 Winter Lecture Series at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, in the Communications Building at 34 Bath Road.

The lectures will continue Feb. 10, 24 and March 3. Coffee and homemade pastries will be served. Suggested donation is $5.

The full schedule is as follows:

• Sunday, Feb. 3: Restoration painter and videographer Doreen Conboy, of Alna, will give a visual tour of Early Lincoln County paintwork — Stenciling, Grain Painting, and Murals, and the stories behind them.

• Sunday, Feb. 10: Michael Dekker, historian, re-enactor, and author of books on the French and Indian Wars in Maine, will talk about Resistance and Reprisal: The Scots-Irish of Mid-Coast Maine During the French and Indian War.

• Sunday, Feb. 24: Jane Bianco, associate curator at the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, will give a talk about the Maine and the Index of American Design,” a current exhibit at the Farnsworth. The Index is a pictorial survey of the nation’s crafts and decorative arts.

• Sunday, March 3: Master shipwright Leon Poindexter will talk about John Paul Jones’ first command, the ship Providence, and on restoring its full-scale replica in Wiscasset Harbor this winter.

Sundays, Feb. 17 and March 10, have been reserved as alternate dates in case of cancellations because of weather conditions.

The Lincoln County Historical Association is a nonprofit organization that provides stewardship for the 1754 Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta, the 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden, and the 1811 Old Jail and Museum in Wiscasset.
