The crash happened after 7 p.m. in the northbound lanes near mile marker 50. All northbound traffic on Interstate 95 was being rerouted at exit 48 in Portland and was able to re-enter the turnpike at exit 52 in Falmouth, according to Twitter alerts from the Maine Turnpike Authority.

A wrecker was on scene as of 8:45 p.m., working to clear the tractor-trailer from the highway, but the Maine Turnpike Authority was advising northbound drivers to use exits 44 or 45 to detour around the area.
