WATERVILLE — The following area students are included among the 51 Colby students elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa this spring.

Kaitlin M. Volk, of Bowdoin, a senior, is majoring in biology with a concentration in ecology and evolution and environmental science. A graduate of Mount Ararat School, she is the daughter of Ronald and Lisa Volk, of Bowdoin.

Colleen E. Wright, of Fayette, a senior, is majoring in music-interdisciplinary computation. A graduate of Maranacook Community School, she is the daughter of James and Mary Wright, of Fayette.

Allison M. Wehrle, of Wiscasset, a junior, is majoring in English with a concentration in creative writing and educational studies. A graduate of Lincoln Academy, she is the daughter of Paul and Ginger Wehrle, of Wiscasset.

Membership in the society is one of the highest academic honors an undergraduate student can achieve.

The Phi Beta Kappa society, founded in 1776, restricts its chapters to leading colleges and universities. The Beta Chapter of Maine was organized at Colby in 1895.
