NEWCASTLE — The Cony girls lacrosse team wasn’t about to let a change in venue spoil its opener.

Playing on Lincoln Academy’s turf field due to the early spring weather, the Rams looked right at home while earning a 9-6 victory over the Eagles in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B matchup.

Sierra Clark led the Cony offense with three goals and two assists, while Cammie Osborne scored two goals and Faith Leathers-Pouliot had a goal and an assist. Kammi Lambert, Abbie Doiron and Hannah Rouleau added tallies, while Sarah Cook-Wheeler made 10 saves.

Alex Fabiano and Ellie Mathews scored two goals apiece for Lincoln Academy, while Erika Mathieson and Josey Henry added scores. Maddie Shaw made 10 saves.

OAK HILL/MONMOUTH/LISBON 13, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 2: Xavier Michaud scored six goals to lead the Raiders (2-0) to the victory in Wales.

Nate Marcotte added four goals, while Noah Moring (assist), Tiger Hopkins (assist) and Riley Worth also scored.

 

SOFTBALL

ERSKINE 16, BELFAST 3: Lydia Boucher and Kayla Hodgkins each doubled twice as the Eagles rolled to the KVAC B victory in Belfast.

Katelyn Rollins also had a pair of hits for Erskine (2-1), while Hodgkins got the win in the circle.

Angela Rodgers doubled for Belfast (0-1).
