The National Weather Service is predicting the Kennebec River will overflow its banks Sunday afternoon, causing minor flooding in downtown Augusta.

About 1 1/2 inches of rain fell overnight, overwhelming storm drains and causing several roads to flood Saturday.

Water Street in Hallowell was closed north of downtown because of water flowing over the road. It receded after storm drains were cleared.
