Dave Fuller of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension will give a talk about how to grow great high bush blueberries at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Phillips Public Library, 96 Main St., Phillips.
He will cover everything from plant choice to pruning and also will welcome gardening questions from the participants, according to a news release from Betsy Squibb.
The presentation is part of the Library Seed Loan Program and is free and open to the public.
Fuller is an agriculture, home garden and non-timber forest products professional who has been teaching how to produce better crops for 20 years.
The Phillips Library Seed Loan project has available a set of donated seeds that patrons can sign out and use. In return the library asks participants to donate back seeds for others to use in the future plantings. Informative talks by local agriculturalists also are part of the Seed Loan project.
The exhibition of Fedco Catalogues over the years is on view in the lobby through June 12.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
