The Augusta Bird Club and Viles Arboretum will celebrate International Migratory Bird Day from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 19, by offering a morning of bird observations and activities at the Viles Arboretum at 153 Hospital St., Augusta, according to a news release from Sue Kistenmacher, Augusta Bird Club.

The activities will include hourly bird walks led by bird club members. All ages and abilities are welcome. From 9 a.m. to noon, in the West Room and Viles grounds, visitors will be able to obtain information on local birds and bird-watching opportunities and explore bird characteristics. Activities for young people will include bird characteristics — exploring beaks and feet.

A tree swallow discussion and display will be offered, including participating in spreading feathers for swallows, displays of nests, bird beaks and feet, bones and freeze-dried specimens and migration displays.
