JAY — A local man has been arrested on charges he choked, punched and threatened to kill his girlfriend with a bat and knife Saturday on Intervale Road, according to Police Chief Richard Caton IV.

Jeremiah I. Francis, 33, was arrested on felony charges of aggravated assault and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.
He was taken to the Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington and released late Monday afternoon on $1,000 cash bail, a corrections officer said.
Officer Dylan Rider responded to the report of a domestic disturbance at about 1 p.m., assisted by Livermore Falls police.
A conviction for assault is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000. A conviction for criminal threatening is punishable by up to five years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.
