SOUTH CHINA — Kyle Douin pitched a three-hit shutout as the Cony baseball team blanked Erskine 6-0 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference game Friday afternoon.

Douin homered in the third inning to give the Rams (7-4) all the offense they would need. Cony tacked on an insurance run in the sixth before breaking things open with a four-spot in the seventh. Eli Bezanson and James Presti each added two hits in the victory.

Erskine dropped to 6-7.

 

MARANACOOK 3, ST. DOM’S 0: The Black Bears broke a scoreless tie with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth en route to the Class C win in Auburn.

Duncan Rogers and Hunter Glowa delivered run-scoring singles in the sixth to get Glowa the win on the mound before handing it over to Jay Lauter for the save. Lauter’s RBI double in the seventh added an insurance run for Maranacook (11-1).

St. Dom’s mustered only three hits in falling to 4-6.

 

MESSALONSKEE 5, LAWRENCE 2: Dylan Cunningham drove in two runs and Andrew Mayo scored a pair as the Eagles took a KVAC game in Fairfield.

Mayo and Jake Perry had two hits apiece for Messalonskee (8-4), while Carter Lambert doubled. Evan DeMott picked up the win on the mound.

Chris Dow and Nick Robertson had two hits each for Lawrence (6-6).

OCEANSIDE 5, WINSLOW 2: Ben Ripley hit a two-run single to highlight a four-run second inning, and Jonah Carlson pitched a five-hitter as the Mariners (3-9) beat the Black Raiders (3-7) in Rockland.

Ripley finished with two hits for Oceanside, which added a run in the sixth to take a 5-1 lead.

Cody Ivey doubled for Winslow.

 

OXFORD HILLS 12, SKOWHEGAN 2, 5 inn.: Caden Truman had three RBIs to lead Oxford Hills over Skowhegan in a KVAC game in South Paris.

Ethan Cutler had two RBIs in the victory. Colton Carson went all five innings on the mound, striking out four and only allowing two hits for Oxford Hills, while Wyatt Williamson had two hits.

Carter Hunt went the distance for Skowhegan (2-10).

 

SOFTBALL

 

MESSALONSKEE 19, LAWRENCE 0, 5 innings: Kristen Dube had three hits, including a pair of doubles, as the Eagles rolled to the KVAC win in Oakland.

Messalonskee (10-2) scored in every inning, including nine times in the second to put things well out of reach. Anna Cummings had three hits of her own in the win, while Taylor Baker and Taylor Bernier also enjoyed multi-hit days.

Lawrence (4-8) saw its two-game winning streak snapped.

 

MESSALONSKEE 6, CAMDEN HILLS 2: Brooke Martin homered and the Eagles inched away for the KVAC A win Thursday in Oakland.

Katelyn Douglass improved to 3-0 in the pitching circle with the complete-game effort which included five strikeouts. Kristen Dube and Alyssa Genness each scored a pair of runs in the victory.

Amanda McFarland had two hits for Camden Hills (0-12).

MARANACOOK 11-24, ST. DOMINIC 3-5: Carolina Bachelder collected three doubles over the course of a KVAC doubleheader sweep for the Black Bears over the Saints in Readfield.

Brooke Stratton had six hits between both games, including a double and a triple. Natalie Costa earned both wins in the circle for Maranacook (10-2).

Mikayla Jackson had two hits in the first game for St. Dominic (2-7).

 

MT. BLUE 14, LEAVITT 2: Macey Phillips smashed a three-run home run in the fifth inning as Mt. Blue sailed to the KVAC win in Turner.

The Cougars scored 11 runs over the first three innings, including six in the second. Sidney Belanger had an RBI triple in the first inning for Mt. Blue.

Annika Mitchell contributed two of the Hornets’ five hits, and an RBI in the fourth inning in the losing effort.

 

GIRLS LACROSSE

 

GARDINER/HALL-DALE 8, MT. ARARAT 3: Madisyn Smith scored three goals to lead the Tigers to a win over the Eagles in Gardiner.

Anna Chadwick and Emma Bourget each scored two goals for the Tigers (4-3), while Michaela Gardner added a score for Gardiner/Hall-Dale. Skye Cotnoir had 11 saves.

Maddi Kinney, Naomi Martin and Hannah Huston each scored goals for Mt. Ararat (2-6).

 

BOOTHBAY 10, MARANACOOK/WINTHROP 7: Cadence Malcolm, Natalie Whitten and Lilly Voye each scored two goals, but it wasn’t enough for Maranacook/Winthrop, which fell to the Seahawks in Readfield.

Maranacook/Winthrop falls to 5-3.

Chloe Arsenault and Hannah Cola each scored three goals for Boothbay (4-3).

 

PORTLAND 19, CONY 2: Annika More had four goals and three assists, and Isabella Moran, Chloe Kilbride and Hazel Praught added three goals apiece to lead the Bulldogs (6-2) over the Rams (4-5) in Portland.

Sydney Girsch and Chelsea Dana added two goals each for Portland, which led 13-2 at halftime.

Sierra Clark and Sydney Avery scored for Cony.
