Jasmine Day and Derek Harding, students at Cony Middle and High School in Augusta, were honored May 9 as middle level scholar leaders at the 20th annual Middle Level Scholar Leader Awards Banquet at the Augusta Civic Center in Augusta. The students were presented with an award whose criteria included demonstrating academic initiative and scholarship, providing service to classmates and school, exemplifying positive attitudes and demonstrating leadership in the classroom and school activities, according to a news release from the Augusta school.
More than 250 students, educators and parents attended the banquet to celebrate the achievements of the middle-level students who are representative of the many fine young adolescents in all middle level schools in the state of Maine. Fifty-two students from 26 schools were honored at the event.
The event was organized by Maine Association for Middle Level Education and New England League of Middle Schools with a supporting sponsorship from Lifetouch National School Studios.
