Of the 435 members in the U.S. House of Representatives, only two represent the Maine voters. It would seem that those two, Reps. Chellie Pingree and Jared Golden, have sold Maine voters down the Kennebec. Both have forgotten who sent them to D.C. and why they are there. It is not to put their political party over the people of Maine.

When an impeachment of a president is down party lines it is nothing more than an attempt to unseat a duly elected president from the opposition party. Democrat Jerry Nadler of New York summed the impeachment hearings up nicely: “We cannot rely on an election to solve our problems.”

Most likely the “we” Nadler used was the royal “we.” I am pretty sure Nadler’s use of the word “we” referred to the Democrats. When Nadler said “our problems” he meant that the Democrats would not be able to beat President Trump at the ballot box in less than a year.

What should get everyone’s attention was the part where Nadler said we “cannot rely on an election.” Now that should set off alarm bells. A partisan impeachment is an attempt to do just that. I don’t know about you, but I am not about to give up my right to vote to Jerry Nadler, not to Chellie Pingree and not to Jared Golden.

Reps. Pingree and Golden should be ashamed of themselves. Maine deserves better.
