I am writing in support for Lindsey Harwath in her candidacy for representative for House District 79. She’s exactly what we need in this role. She runs a small agriculture business, maintains a busy household of young children, and is an active participant in our community schools.

Prior to starting their family, Lindsey and her husband worked to support global humanitarian efforts and documentary projects around the world. This gave Harwath an insightful perspective of the possibilities for a community when families, land and economies are all equally thriving.

Along with this insight, she will listen to her constituents and be present for votes. She understands we need leaders who represent local people, not large funders. She’s running as a Clean Election candidate, something her opponent can’t claim.

Her opponent also can’t claim he has represented his local constituents. He was absent for many votes this last year. The AFL-CIO gave him a 22/100 rating. He was opposed to L.D. 240 to provide collective bargaining rights to teachers. The Maine Conservation Voters gave him a 0/10 rating. He voted against the Maine Green New Deal, L.D. 1282, which will create good-paying jobs and a well-trained green workforce. Democracy Maine, a non-partisan group formed by the League of Women’s Voters of Maine and Maine Citizens For Clean Elections, gave him a zero rating. This leads one to wonder, who does the incumbent represent?

We need a change in leadership. Lindsey Harwath will be representing you, the people of District 79. She will listen, find solutions and act in your best interest.
