LEWISTON — The Maine Department of Human Services announced Monday that it closed its office on Main Street after it learned two employees tested positive for the coronavirus.
DHHS was informed of the test results Monday morning and notified the Lewiston employees. It is identifying close contacts of these individuals, who are isolating and were last in the office on Dec. 30-31.
Due to privacy requirements, DHHS is limited in releasing further information about these cases.
The office will undergo cleaning and sanitizing following guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
It’s expected to reopen Tuesday to ensure continued access to critical benefits and services, according to a DHHS statement. Affected employees who are able to work remotely are doing so.
