Nathan Kolosko will demonstrate three instruments used in traditional Persian classical music: the Kamancheh, Tar and Oud or Barbat. He will talk about each instrument’s history, construction and technique, and will perform a short piece on each instrument. The free recording can be viewed from noon Thursday, Feb. 4, to 5 p.m. Feb. 17.
Kolosko has studied with luminaries from the guitar world and has recorded four studio albums which have received critical praise. He has over 20 published compositions which have been performed and recorded by musicians throughout the world.
He has collaborated with numerous musicians including Carl Dimow and Dan Cosley, as well as visual artist Ling-Wen Tsai. Kolosko also performs on Oud, Persian Tar and Kamanche/Tarhu with the Portland based Middle Eastern ensemble Zapion.
