BATH — The Gardiner girls basketball team picked up a convincing 66-27 win over Morse on Thursday night.

Gardiner standout Lizzie Gruber was once again a force, scoring 21 points and blocking three shots.

“We’ve come a long way since our first game a few weeks ago,” said Gruber. “With practice time and putting in the work, our communications skills on and off the court have really taken a leap.”

Kassidy Collins added 11 points for the Tigers, and McKenna Johnson chipped in with seven. Dakota Shipley led the Shipbuilders with six points.

Gardiner jumped out to a quick 15-4 lead in the first six minutes and didn’t look back. Coach Mike Gray was pleased to see that the work in practice over the past week was paying off.

“I’m really happy with how (Thursday night) went, we turned our defense into offense, which was what we were really working on recently,” he said. “We shot the ball really well tonight.”

The Tigers have won four straight after starting 0-2.

They will look to make it five in a row when they host Monmouth Academy on Feb. 9.
