AUGUSTA – Isabelle Mary Shea, 89, of Augusta passed Jan. 28, 2021. Isabelle was born in Millinocket, the eldest of six children of Arthur and Sophie (Madore) McLean. Her siblings are Dorothy Damush, Arthur G. McLean II, Helen Daly, Robert McLean, and Gloria Perry.

She attended Millinocket schools until her senior year when her father got stationed in Panama and moved there with family. She enjoyed life growing up in Millinocket very much and hated to leave for Panama. She met her husband Paul Leo Shea in Panama and was married in Philadelphia, Pa.

She worked all her life doing a variety of different jobs, one as a dairy manager at Shaw’s for many years. She also worked as a unit clerk at Maine Medical and as a preschool teacher. She was always working.

She volunteered with the Red Cross during 9/11 in Boston, she was a Crossing Guard in retirement, she was a member of the American Legion in Augusta and recently a member of the Apostolic Church.

She loved to knit and crochet and over the years created a lot of beautiful afghans and doilies. She also in her younger years loved to golf. She loved to read and always had a book going. She loved to play cards with family and friends. Isabelle was a Bingo Fanatic which she loved all her life!! In her early years with her mother and sister and later in life with all her bingo friends in Augusta. She was hard to catch home; very energetic and always out and about. She was a happy person to be around and know.

She loved her children and grandchildren and was very proud of all of them. She will be greatly missed…

She is survived by her son Michael Shea of South Portland and daughter Joyce Iannicelli (Richard) from Bennington, Vt.; her seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her son Thomas Shea and daughter-in-law Maureen Shea (Reilly); her sister Dorothy Damush and sister Gloria Perry.
