James C. Brooks

CANAAN – James C. Brooks of Cannan, passed away unexpectedly at Waterman Florida Advent Health Jan. 17, 2021. Born in Waterville, he grew up in Sidney Maine. He was the son of Carlton J. Elenor Neioff Brooks. He graduated from Messalonkee High and played football and track. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. During his work career he was employed by Brooks and Son, Scott Paper as mill wright, Chimbro, Owner Operator of two 18 wheelers, beer truck in Connecticut, dry waller at Cornell College, New York, and General Contractor, which skills included houses, repairing barns to antiques. One of his favorites pastimes was buying, selling and restoring antiques and building furniture. He loved Nascar racing, football, boating and fishing. Jim also loved his time in the woods; hunting early years coon, rabbits, deer and bear. He loved passing hunting onto his grandson, Elljah Klaiber, and the love of hunting and sharing the excitement of catching a deer together and sharing stories.Jim leaves behind his fiance’, Barbara Lambert Farrin of 18 years and his beloved dog Wyatt; daughter Angelina Brooks Parise, whom he loved and was very proud of, and her husband Sheldon Parise; grandson Elijah Klaiber; stepsons, F. Barett Farrin and his significant other Holly Laney, Aaron Farrin, Jacob Farrin, T. Joshua Farrin and his significant other Jennifer Marquis; eight step grandchildren; sisters, Ann Smith, Karla Carey and her significant other Sam Bouchard; and niece Jennifer Cherry. He was predeceased by his parents; special nephew James “Jeff” Carey; cousin Birch Brooks; uncle Derril “Butch” Brooks. Jim was loved and respected by many and will be sadly missed.There will be a celebration of life later in the spring at his home in Canaan.
