Robert F. Dodge

AUGUSTA – Robert F. Dodge, 88 of Augusta, died Wednesday Feb. 10, 2021 at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a short illness. Bob was born in Miami, Fla. Oct. 28, 1932, the son of Louis and Bella (Donahue) Dodge who lovingly raised him in the Miami area.

He graduated from Miami Jackson High School in 1950 and from the University of Miami in 1954 with a BA in Psychology and Sociology. After graduation, Bob continued to be a life-long-learner, always reading and trying to expand his horizons. He moved to New York and worked in New York City and Stamford Connecticut for 44 years in the field of credit and finance.

Bob met and married the love of his life, Paula Brown in 1979. They moved to Maine in 2007 and he retired in 2009. In Maine, Bob became active in South Parish Congregational Church UCC, the Kennebec Valley Association of the UCC, the Rotary Club of Augusta, The Maine State Museum and continued to educate himself through the Senior College at UMA. He had a passion for studying history, politics and government and for local community projects like the continuation of Bicentennial Nature Park in Augusta. He loved a spirited debate about the latest political issues and had a sharp wit.

He is survived by his wife, Paula; his son, Steven Henry Dodge of Portland, Ore., his daughter, Tammy Lee Poole of Calais; his brothers-in-law, Conrad Brown and his wife Rebecca of Westfield and Philip Foster and his wife Diane of Stetson; his grandchildren, Tiffany Marie Poole, Cheyenne, Jacob and Gabrielle Menefee; his great-grandchildren, Haileigh, Jordon, Trevor and Landon; niece, Amy Proctor and her husband Matthew of Buxton; and grandnephews, Callahan, Cody, Elias, Daniel and Asa.

When COVID restrictions have been lifted, a memorial service will be held at the South Parish Congregational Church UCC.
