Raise a glass to the music venue Blue for stepping into wine country with a virtual tasting event with local expert Layne Witherell. He’s been in the biz since the ’70s as an importer, wholesaler, retailer, wine judge, winery CEO, radio talk show host and wine teacher. This month’s featured wines are Custoza (Italian white), Vidigal Reserve (red), Mati Barbara D’Asti (Italian red) and Vya (California sweet vermouth). The Footlights Theatre in Falmouth invites you to save the date for a romantic comedy that will keep the spirit of Valentine’s Day alive well into February. “The Dating Game” will renew your belief in romance as a two unlikely dating candidates convince their best friends to make it a double date. You’ll laugh your way through a show that believes that you don’t make mistakes, you date them. Ain’t love grand?

Cross-country skiing

Mother Nature has been doing her part, and now it’s time for you to break out your cross-country skis. Smiling Hill Farm is known for its dairy products and farm animals, and in the winter, it’s also a cross-country skiing hot spot. They’ve got more than 15 miles of trails which are groomed for tracked skiing. Leashed dogs are allowed on weekdays, and you can rent skis and snowshoes for an additional fee. Hit the dairy store for a variety of artisanal cheeses, along with daily lunch specials.

Waterville Creates’ mission is to connect artists, organizations and the public with arts and cultural events and programs. In keeping with that goal and in honor of Black History Month, you can head to their website and stream the award-winning 2016 documentary film “I Know a Man…Ashley Bryan.” Bryan is a longtime resident of Little Cranberry Island and is a renowned artist, writer and illustrator of children’s books with most subjects based on the African American experience.
