Donald K. Ferrara Sr.

SABATTUS – Donald K. Ferrara Sr., 74, of 15 Lake Street, Sabattus, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice in Auburn, following a long illness. Born in Winthrop, Mass., on Dec. 19, 1946, he was the son of John and Mildred Lagamasino Ferarra.

Educated in Massachusetts schools, he served in the Army Reserve for six years. On April 7, 1968, he married the love of his life, the former Frances E. Croce, who passed three days after Don, on Feb. 4, 2021.

In 1980, they moved to Mercer, and Don worked as a papermaker at S.D. Warren/Sappi, and also for both Giffords and Oakhurst dairy as a delivery driver. A member of Prince of Peace Parish, Don enjoyed fishing, travelling with his wife, and going to the Oxford Casino. He also loved watching boxing and the Red Sox, and had a special liking for the Rocky movies and Horror films.

Together they loved animals, and had many dogs and cats along the way. Both were very giving people and were there for all of us and anyone who needed them. Don is survived by three sons, Donald Jr. and wife Rhonda of Greene, William and partner Jenn Davis of Port Richey, Fla., and Brian and partner Angela Berry of Mercer, five grandchildren, Nichole Clark, Donald Ferrara III, Courtney Ferrara, William Ferrara II, and Jacob Ferrara, and one great-grandchild, Michael Clark.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant daughter, Sharon, brothers, Francis and John Ferrara, and a sister, Lucille Bramante. Services will be held at a later date. Donations, condolences, and a video tribute may be found at http://www.albert-burpee.com.

Donations may be made in his memory to the Androscoggin Home Healthcare & Hospice, Hospice House Fund
