AUGUSTA – Lila R. Baker, 95, former 30-year resident of Skowhegan, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2021 at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta following a brief illness. She was born in Pittston on August 16, 1925, a daughter of the late Charles and Jennie Roth.
Mrs. Baker was a 1943 graduate of Gardiner Area High School and had been employed at the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office for many years, previously working for the Maine State Police.
She married Capt. Roger Baker of the Maine State Police in 1947.
Mrs. Baker was predeceased by her husband, Roger F. Baker; and her siblings, Charles Roth, Al Krumen and Nell Redheffer.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Peaslee and her husband Vaughn of Augusta; two grandchildren, Ryan Peaslee and Sara McCoy; a great-granddaughter, Madison McCoy; her companion, Lionel Dumont Jr.; and two nieces, Lila Geis and Diane Sullivan.
There will be no public visiting hours or funeral service. A graveside service will be held in the spring in the old Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
