We are living in a challenging time, with the pandemic still raging and Mainers struggling economically. If anyone is up to the job of representing us well and tackling the big problems that face this state, it’s Craig Hickman. I am excited to have the opportunity to vote for Craig for District 14 senator in the special election on March 9.

I worked with Rep. Hickman back when I was in the Legislature myself and more recently as we both served on the Maine Citizen Trade Policy Commission. Craig has a big heart and has donated many hours, and many vegetables, from his organic farm in Winthrop to feed people in need and to contribute to his community. He has focused on making sure people in Maine don’t go hungry, and advanced legislative policies to promote the role of local food and agriculture in our economy.

He’s someone who can both think “outside the box” to implement long-range policies to shape Maine’s economy for the future, while never forgetting service to individual constituents who call for help with everyday problems. As a state representative, Craig has been serious about reaching across the aisle to forge common ground, a quality as rare as it is necessary in this time of division and uncertainty.

I can’t think of anyone better to serve in the state Senate. I urge District 14 residents not to wait until March 9 to vote. Get your absentee ballot now and cast your vote for Craig Hickman.
