The Maine duo/trio plays eclectic mix including old-time jazz, blues and originals, some reggae-based.
Juliane Gardner, Christopher Poulin and Ezra Rugg began playing together in college when they met as students in a Jazz and Contemporary Music Program. They continued to perform together in various groups until the band was formed in its present configuration. Since then New Shades of Blue has enjoyed a playing schedule up and down the coast of Maine and New England. They please audiences with an eclectic mix, from old time jazz favorites to originals, some blues and sometimes even reggae based originals.
The core of the band is Gardner — lead vocalist and keyboards and Christopher Poulin — lead vocals, guitar, and flute.
Audience-free concert is free to watch (no link or RSVP needed). Sponsored by Hawthorn Inn. Donations to Community Arts Fund are appreciated.
