Award winning writer and performer Susan Poulin will deliver a presentation as part of the Food for Thought program at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, on Zoom hosted by The USM LAC Senior College in Lewiston.

Poulin, best known as her alter-ego Ida, is often called the funniest woman in Maine. In this humorous and engaging talk, she will reveal the inspiration for Ida and what has kept their relationship fresh after 25 years, six plays, two books, and twelve years of weekly blogs. She will also examine the lessons she’s learned from Ida, and what having an alter-ego has taught her about writing, life, and the healing power of laughter.

Poulin was selected by Portland Magazine as one of the “Ten Most Intriguing People in Maine.” In May 2019, during a joint session of the Maine State Legislature, she was inducted into the Franco-American Hall of Fame honoring her body of work and promotion of Franco-American cultural identity. She continues to be a leader in bringing a female voice to New England storytelling and humor, and sharing the healing power of laughter. Her TEDxPortsmouth talk can be viewed at susan@poolyle.com.

The Food for Thought online presentation is free. To attend, send an email to laseniorcollege@gmail.com by 12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27.
