Helene W. Bolstridge

SKOWHEGAN – Helene W. Bolstridge, 82, of Skowhegan, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021 in Skowhegan, following a long battle with Kidney Disease. She was born May 19, 1938 in Skowhegan, the daughter of Lloyd and Ethel (Blair) Wentworth.

Helene attended the Good Will Hinckley School and then went on to attend Skowhegan High School. She later went on to attend Kennebec Valley Community College.

As a young girl, she grew up in the Burnham area. When she married Charles R. Bolstridge on April 9, 1965, they settled in Cornville. Later in life, she moved to Moody Street in Skowhegan.

She worked at Cross Hardware then to Depositors Trust Bank in the early to mid-1960’s. Following her time at the Bank, she began her work as a homemaker raising her three children. Once her children were older, she worked at the Hannaford Deli. She then left Hannaford to work for Dr. Nicholson for well over 25 years.

Helene enjoyed playing volleyball well into her later years. She was very active in church activities having a large group of friends throughout Skowhegan and Fairfield Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her husband Charles R. Bolstridge of Skowhegan. She had three children, Charles Blair and Phyllis (PJ) Bolstridge of Brainard, Minn., Kellie and Todd Smith of Hooksett N.H., Brian and Penny Bolstridge of Windsor. She leaves nine grandchildren, Chas Bolstridge, Jared Bolstridge, Rachel Bolstridge, Josiah Smith, Aaron Smith, Nadia Smith, Justin Smith, Skyla Minicucci and Joshua Bolstridge. In addition, she was blessed with seven great-grandchildren. Helene had two brothers Lloyd Wentworth of Hawaii and Blair Wentworth of Needham, Mass., along with a sister Ann Palmer of Skowhegan.

A funeral service will be on May 17, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, with the burial to follow at the Southside Cemetery in Skowhegan.

She loved her family and friends. She would say that she wishes to leave all of her memories of time together filled with heartwarming love to all.
