The paintings of Maine artists Constance McVey and Michael Everett are on display for the month of March in the Woman’s Hospital Association Rotating Art Gallery at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

McVey retired after 40 years working in the field of commercial art, moving to Auburn, where she finished her art education with a BFA in 2012 from the University of Southern Maine in Gorham. Presently working at her Pond Lily Art Studio, she has exhibited her work at the Main St. Art Gallery in Norway, the Greenwood Gallery in Auburn as well as many local art fairs while also teaching several art classes at Central Maine Community College. She has expanded her art studio time to include more landscape drawings and paintings of Maine’s scenic vistas.

Everett took up oil painting to capture his impressions of the remote places of northern Maine. Many of his paintings are scenes from the Allagash and Saint John Rivers. As his interest and skill have progressed, he has become more intrigued with the simple enjoyment of painting, especially in seeking vitality in his use of color. He enjoys painting landscapes of familiar places, and often can be found painting outdoors in his North Auburn neighborhood. He a member of the Western Maine Art Group. He is also a frequent instructor at LewistonAuburn’s Senior College, where he lectures on art topics. He maintains a website — michaeleverett-artist.com — where he occasionally blogs about art.

The works on display may be purchased through the WHA Gift Shop located adjacent to the main lobby at Central Maine Medical Center. As a result of the hospital safety precautions due to the pandemic, the art gallery is only available for viewing for staff, patients, and their designated visitors at this time. A percentage of sale proceeds benefits patients of CMMC.
