A glitch in Maine’s unemployment system has caused a nightmare for some Mainers after their bank accounts were frozen. Should the state compensate them?Â
The Maine Department of Labor says it has uncovered at least a dozen cases of bank accounts belonging to residents who applied for unemployment benefits at the start of the pandemic being improperly frozen. The Department disclosed those cases after the Morning Sentinel reported on a Palermo couple’s struggle to get their bank account unfrozen. Should the Maine Department of Labor compensate people whose bank accounts were improperly frozen over a glitch in unemployment claims? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
