Walter C. Towers

SKOWHEGAN – Walter C. Towers, 79, of Skowhegan passed away unexpectedly Tuesday March 2, 2021 at the Redington Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan.

He was born Dec. 17, 1941 in Belfast, the son of Archie and Bertha Towers. Walter attended Belfast schools and later married the former Pauline Willey of Belgrade on Jan. 28, 1961. They were married almost 50 years.

Walter worked as a woodsman most of life. He pulled ponies in his younger years, loved the Horse Association. In retirement he enjoyed watching, football, NASCAR and WWE on TV. He loved watching his son Walley locally race in person at the track at Get er Done Raceway.

Walter leaves his partner of a few years, Mary Stevens of Skowhegan; his children, Karen Wells of Madison, Donna Wadleigh and her husband Bryan of Belgrade, Walley Towers and his partner Sheila Barlow of Skowhegan, William Towers and his wife Joyce of Oakland and Tina Towers of Madison; his siblings, Ed Towers of Clinton, Hollis Towers of Benton, Arlene Cannon of Madison, and Marion Wing of Hinckley; his seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews also survive him.

His parents, Archie and Bertha Towers, his wife Pauline Towers and his brother Archie Towers, predeceased him.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade.
