Lois Jean (Wilson) Rocque

AUGUSTA – Lois Jean (Wilson) Rocque, 76, of Augusta, passed into the arms of the Lord on Feb. 27, 2021 at Maine Medical Center, Portland. She was born in Augusta on Feb. 9, 1945 to Myrtle I. and Fred E. Wilson.

Lois attended Augusta schools and graduated from Cony High School in 1963. She continued her education by getting her cosmetology license and successfully ran a hair salon business called Cut-N-Curl Beauty Salon for over 40 years. She continued doing hair for a handful of her oldest customers at their homes only stopping briefly due to the pandemic. On the side, Lois was an Avon representative for over 35 years.

Lois attended Green Street Methodist Church, then the Nazarene Church for a time, both in Augusta. She became a Girl Scout Troop leader and was involved with her son’s Boy Scout Troop fundraising efforts for many years. Lois loved people; she had the gift of gab and loved life.

Her greatest joy was seeing her grandkids succeed in sports, music and work and watching bull riding with them. She was able to see all six grandkids get their drivers licenses, the most recent just that week before her death.

Lois was predeceased by her mother and father, Myrtle and Fred; brothers, David and Kenneth Wilson and sister, Carol Wilson.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle and husband Jerry Davis, sons, Michael Canwell and Mathew and wife Jasmine Canwell. Also, she is survived by her six grandchildren and significant others, Mathew Canwell Jr. and Nova Jarvis, Rebekah Davis and Kyle Mandel, Meagan Canwell and Kaleb Mantor, Ryan Davis, Alixx Canwell and Jolie Canwell who all meant the absolute world to her.

She is also survived by many aunts, uncles; cousins, nieces and nephews; and friend, Jessica Canwell. Each one she loved unconditionally.

At her request, there will be no funeral services. There will be a graveside service held at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn on June 19 at 1 p.m. adhering to Covid protocols at that time.
