Robert “Bob” Gerard Gorneau

FORT MYERS, Fla. – On March 1, 2021, Bob Gorneau passed away unexpectedly at the age of 60 in Fort Myers, Fla.

Bob was born in Augusta on April 7, 1960 to Robert Poulin and Leona (Bouffard) Gorneau. He spent his childhood and young adult life in the Augusta area where he met his first wife, Lisa Lavallee, who he married on March 4, 1989. Together they had two children, Ryan and Breanna.

Bob renovated their first home together in Manchester and played a huge role in the construction of their second home on Anabessacook Lake in Monmouth. There, they enjoyed hosting their friends and family for many parties and holidays, boating, and always keeping busy with their two young children and countless projects around the house.

Bob managed several different auto part supply companies over the years before opening his own business, Bootlegger’s Tavern, in Waterville. During that time, he met his current wife, Melanie Gorneau. Bob enjoyed traveling, riding his motorcycle, attending bike rallies and spending time with family and friends. After successfully running his business for 10 years, Bob and Melanie married on May 14, 2011, sold almost everything they owned, packed up a camper and set out for Florida to chase their dream of living in paradise.

After arriving in Florida, he worked as a supervisor at LeeTran for nearly 10 years where he is described as an amazing asset and a man with a heart of gold who had a tremendous impact on their organization and those around him. Bob also renovated multiple homes over the years in Florida and always had a project going to keep his hands busy when they weren’t out enjoying the sun and sand and getting to know the locals. He was the type of man that made you feel as if you had already known him for years even if you had just met him. He had a warm heart, a caring soul and smile that filled the room. Bob had a brilliant mind and the incredible ability to build anything he could imagine. “Any job big or small, do it right or not at all. Once that job has begun, follow through until it’s done” is a quote from his father that Bob lived his life by.

While his job here on earth is done, the impact he has made on the lives he touched will be felt forever. He will be deeply missed by his wife; two children; countless family members; friends; and his beloved dog, Cash.
