AUGUSTA – Denise R. (Denault) McAfee Bell passed away on Feb. 26, 2021 at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta, following a battle with cancer. She was born June 20, 1962 in Middleborough, Mass., daughter of Joanne and George Denault. Denise lived the majority of her life in Maine. She worked as a bartender for some time. She also worked at retirement homes and homes for disabled people. She was her calling in child care and loved working with children.Denise loved gardening, cooking, animals, art and Native American culture. She also enjoyed attending auctions, powwows and other festivals. She always looked forward to spending holidays with family, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. She will be remembered for her strength and perseverance as well as her love for family and friends.Denise is predeceased by her parents; and her brother, Raymond McAfee.Denise is survived by her husband of 35 years, James Bell of Augusta; sister, Lonnie McAfee and her children of North Carolina; brother, Lenny McAfee and his children of North Carolina; brother, Gary Denault and his child of Orlando Fla.; Cherokee sister, Sally Cox of Alabama; daughter, Nicole McAfee of Augusta, son, Tobey McAfee of Readfield; grandsons, Sunny Bell and Ethan Grotton of Augusta. A celebration of life will be organized by family and held at a later date.
